This plant is renowned for its exquisite, highly fragrant white flowers, which typically open at night and fall by morning, creating a mesmerizing and fragrant spectacle. The flowers have bright orange tubular centers and are traditionally associated with Hindu mythology. The tree bears simple, glossy, dark green leaves and small, two-seeded capsules. Germination
Nyctanthes arbor-tristis seed germination involves a few key steps. Soak the seeds in water for about 24 hours to soften the outer coat. Plant the seeds in well-draining soil, burying them at a depth of about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Use a heat mat and cover the seeds with a dome or plastic wrap while keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Grow lights will help as well. Germination usually takes 1-6 weeks, with seedlings emerging. Once they have a few sets of leaves, transplant them into individual pots. Provide bright, indirect light and gradually acclimate the seedlings to outdoor conditions before planting them in the garden.
