Campanula persicifolia, also called Peach-leaved Bellflower, is an enchanting perennial. Growing up to 2-3 feet, it flaunts lance-shaped leaves that form a basal rosette. In early summer, tall stems rise, crowned with elegant, bell-shaped flowers in shades of blue, white, or pink. These blossoms, resembling delicate cups, lend a graceful charm to gardens. Bees and butterflies are drawn to its nectar-rich blooms, enhancing pollination. Thriving in well-draining soil and partial shade, it's ideal for borders or cottage gardens. This low-maintenance plant combines hardiness with elegance, making it a delightful addition to various outdoor landscapes. Zones 3-7

Germination

To germinate Campanula persicifolia seeds, start by scarifying the seeds to break their hard outer coating and enhance water absorption. You can achieve this by gently rubbing the seeds with sandpaper or nicking them with a knife. Next, prepare a seed tray or small pots filled with a well-draining seed starting mix, such as a mixture of peat moss and perlite. Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil and lightly press them into the mix. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged by misting regularly or using a gentle watering can. Place the tray or pots in a location with indirect sunlight and maintain a temperature between 65-75°F (18-24°C). Germination typically occurs within 2-8 weeks. Once the seedlings emerge, provide them with ample light and gradually acclimate them to outdoor conditions if transplanting. Campanula persicifolia prefers well-drained soil and a location with partial to full sunlight. Continue to care for the seedlings with proper watering and light as they grow into mature plants.
